Deadline reports that a spinoff sequel to the ever popular The Handmaid’s Tale, is in the works at Hulu and MGM Television. Margaret Atwood‘s upcoming novel The Testaments is a follow-up to her bestselling The Handmaid’s Tale. Negotiations and discussions are taking place with showrunner Bruce Miller, on how this all could work within the same universe as the award winning The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Testaments will be published on September 10 and picks up more than fifteen years after Offred’s final scene in The Handmaid’s Tale novel.
The Handmaid’s Tale became the first streaming show to ever pick up a Best Series Primetime Emmy Award, amongst many other prestigious awards, such as the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.
In Australia, season 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Stan. Season 3 is still available on the free on demand service SBS OnDemand.
