Netflix has released the official Raising Dion trailer for their upcoming family superhero drama series starring Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther).
Raising Dion follows the story of a woman named Nicole Reese (Alisha Wainwright – Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments), who raises her son Dion (newcomer Ja’Siah Young)after the death of her husband Mark (Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several magical, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter – Parenthood), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.
Raising Dion is based on commercial and music video director Dennis Liu’s short film and comic book. Carol Barbee (Jericho) will serve as showrunner/executive producer. She also wrote the script for episode one, which Liu will direct. Jordan will executive produce through his Outlier Society Productions. Raising Dion is also executive produced by MACRO’s Charles D. King, Kim Roth and Poppy Hanks with Kenny Goodman and Michael Green.
The Netflix original series will launch on October 4.
